One of our long-time customers, a local care home, reached out to us when they were experiencing ongoing problems with a blocked drain.

CCTV survey and drain jetting

The care home had been experiencing blocked drain issues for a while, which staff had attempted to clear themselves. When they were unable to resolve the problem, they called on us to help.

We carried out a CCTV drain survey to see exactly where the issue was, then followed this up with high-pressure drain jetting to clear the blockage. Afterwards, we conducted a follow-up CCTV survey to get a clearer look now the sludge and scale deposits had been removed.

We discovered roots in the drain, cracks in the pipework, and numerous joints lipped against the flow of water.

Excavation and drain repairs

We lifted the paving slabs and excavated the area, in order to access the pipework to remove the affected sections. Then, we installed new 110mm uPVC pipework on the existing clay pipework at the manholes. We also installed a 7m-long 100mm structural resin-impregnated liner and patch repair over the liner, to prevent there from being a lip at the outlet.

The newly installed pipework was surrounded with graded backfill and compacted, before we relayed the slabs.

The result

Our solution has not only resolved the issues the care home was having, but it’s also repaired and protected the pipework from further damage. We left the area neat and presentable, and the customer was really pleased with the result.
